Today is National Wooden Spoon Day. For those that don’t know, Handsworth is a Partner club of Wooden Spoon, the charity that is dedicated to transforming the lives of children and young people through the power of the rugby community.
They provide grants to local charities and organisations who work to give the best life opportunities to children and young people living with disabilities, those disadvantaged and those disengaged from society.
Handsworth chose to be a partner club because several of our members have children with Special Needs and we like the fact that money raised in an area is spent in that area.
We have in the past organised a golf day to raise funds for Wooden Spoon as well as supporting other clubs’ days.
There will be a collection at the next home game to recognise the efforts of Wooden Spoon, please give generously.
